Vikram Sarabhai was born on August 12, 1919, who started Indian space research and helped develop nuclear energy in the country. Vikram Sarabhai, known as the father of the Indian space program, is best known for founding the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). . In 1962, he was assigned to ISRO and worked for a rupee token salary in view of his personal wealth.
Emphasizing the importance of space programming in India, Vikram Sarabhai received two of India’s highest awards – the Padma Bhushan in 1966 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1972. Sarabhai is credited with keeping the first Indian satellite, Aryabhata. Orbit from Russia in 1975.

In Ahmedabad, Vikram Sarabhai helped establish the Nehru Foundation for Development, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), the Ahmedabad Textile Industries Research Association (ATIRA) and (CEPT).
Together with his wife Mrinalini Sarabhai, he founded the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts. Other projects and organizations he started or established were the Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR) at Kalpakkam, the Variable Energy Cyclotron Project in Calcutta, the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) in Hyderabad and the Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) in Jharkhand.
