This is Kimia Alizadeh’s third victory over Jade Jones

Jones aimed to become the first British woman to win Olympic gold in three consecutive games.

But her hopes were dashed by a 16-12 defeat to bronze medalist Kimiya Alizadeh at Rio 2016.

If Kimiya Alizadeh reaches the final, Jones could win the bronze medal via the repechage.

However, missing out on gold is a hugely unexpected blow for Britain, who looked stunned after the defeat.

Alizadeh had defeated Jones twice, including at the 2015 World Championships, but it looked like Jones would live up to his favorite tag as he won the first round 6–4.

But Kimiya Alizadeh won the next two 6-2 6-4.

A Kimiya Alizadeh created history by participating in Taekwondo at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

At only 18 years old, she defeated Nikita Glasnovic of Sweden 5-1 for bronze in the -57kg category. This made her the first Iranian woman to win an Olympic medal.

But in the wake of that success, he realized that the Iranian authorities were using him as a propaganda tool and fled his country in January 2020.
