CNN fires unvaccinated employees: U.S. News Network CNN fired three employees for going to the office without vaccinating Kovid, U.S. media reported.
This is the first example of a company dismissing a company staff for violating a company vaccination order.
Vaccination of employees by companies is legal in the US.
Many large companies – including Facebook and Google – have said they need to vaccinate employees when offices are fully open in the coming months.
CNN chief Jeff Zucker mentioned the dismissal in a company memo sent Thursday and seen by several US media outlets.
He said in the memo that anyone in the field reporting, working with other employees or going into the office must be vaccinated.
“Let me be clear – we have a zero-tolerance policy on this,” Mr. Zucker, chairman of News and Sports for Warner Media, said.
In May, the U.S. government said it was legal for employers to vaccinate staff attending the office against Kovid-19.
Major airlines Delta and United Airlines are seeking new employees to show proof of vaccination, while investment bank Goldman Sachs is seeking to disclose the vaccine status of its employees, although staff are not required to be vaccinated, the AP reported.
President Biden has ordered two million federal employees to show proof of vaccination or wear a mandatory test and mask.
